Shear strength of recycled aggregate concrete beams without shear reinforcement

Abstract Steel fibers have recently become increasingly popular for strengthening reinforced concrete members. This research contains a study of shear strength under the effect replacing 50% natural coarse aggregate (gravel) with recycled (crushed brick) as well steel and concrete. Five beams dimensions 2000 mm in length, 300 depth, 200 width were tested to evaluate aggregates efficiency improving capabilities beams. Beams are designed fail due stresses (without strengthening). The specimens four 4" X 16" bars at bottom two 2" 10" top reinforcement. Three volumetric fractions used: 0%, 0.5%, 1%. samples subjected two-point loading test. beam ratio span effective depth (a/d) equal 2. results showed that decreased ultimate strength, but adding by 1% volume resulted an increase 31.8% beam. For ordinary concrete, final increased 18.3% 30.8% when added 0.5% 1%, respectively. Moreover, also failure mode all is mode.
